We are delighted to announce that the 11th International Conference on Biodiversity Research (ICBR 2022) will take place in Daugavpils, Latvia from 20 - 22 October, 2022.

This meeting will bring together students, graduates, postdocs, professors, and other researchers and provide an ample opportunity for inspiring discussions and networking. All of you are encouraged to attend our conference and submit abstracts for ICBR 2022. Participation in the conference with oral or poster presentation is free of charge. Accompanying persons and attendees without oral or poster presentations will be charged a conference fee of EUR 60.

The conference will be organized around the general topics with the aim to provide a forum for presenting and discussing new results. The scientific program will be structured in plenary, oral and poster sessions. The internationally recognized invited plenary speakers will provide a broad overview on biodiversity research topics. Conference topics include (but are not limited to) the following:

  1. Biological Diversity and Classification: Faunistics, Floristics, Systematics, and Phylogeny
  2. Drivers of Biodiversity Loss: Climate Change, Pollution, Habitat Degradation, and Overexploitation
  3. Biodiversity Conservation Policy, Strategies, and Funding
  4. Impacts of Invasive Alien Species on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services
  5. Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity: Sustainable Forestry, Agriculture, and Fishery
  6. Biodiversity in Freshwater, Marine, and Terrestrial Ecosystems
  7. Organismal Biology, Genetic Biodiversity, and Evolution
  8. Restoration and Conservation of Biodiversity: Scientific Research, Management, and Practice
  9. Geoinformatics for Biodiversity Assessment: Recent Technological Advances
  10. Towards more personal and integrated understanding of the sustainability phenomenon for teacher and higher education.

During the conference, we will organize a special session on invasive species and biodiversity in cooperation with LIFE Integrated project “Optimising the Governance and Management of the Natura 2000 Protected Areas Network in Latvia”.

During the conference, in cooperation with the DU UNESCO Chair and members of the International Network of the Journal of Teacher Education for Sustainability, the conference section Towards more personal and integrated understanding of the sustainability phenomenon for teacher and higher education will be held. Participants of section will examine the value of diversity from the perspectives of JTES researchers' experiences in reorienting teacher and higher education toward sustainability.

The conference is organized by Daugavpils University within the LIFE project "Threatened species in Latvia: improved knowledge, capacity, data and awareness" (LIFE FOR SPECIES, Project No. LIFE19GIE/LV/000857).
